Effect of purines on epinephrine-induced lipolysis in adipose tissue.

چکیده
The purine bases hypoxanthine, xanthine, guanine, and purine markedly inhibit epinephrine-induced lipolysis in rat adipose tissue, an action previously ascribed only to nucleosides, nucleotides, and nucleic acids. The inhibition by purines and purine conjugates is associated with increased destruction of epinephrine. Allopurinol, an inhibitor of xanthine oxidase, prevents the degradation of epinephrine and prevents or reduces the inhibition of lipolysis. The stimulatory effect of some purine bases on epinephrineinduced lipolysis is confirmed, and the stimulatory effect is shown to occur in human adipose tissue and in tissue of hypophysectomized and thyroidectomized rats.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the context of lipid metabolism research in physical activity, lipolysis, lipolysis hormone regulation and the fate of lipolysis products in exercise, fatty acid transporters, some genes involved in lipid metabolism, effect of resistance activity on lipolysis, adaptations of adipose tissue due to physical activity, lipoproteins and apoproteins...
متن کاملEffects of epinephrine, corticotropin, and thyrotropin on lipolysis and glucose oxidation in rat adipose tissue.
(Log dose)-response curves have been determined for lipolysis and for the conversion of glucose-(14)C to (14)CO(2) by adipose tissue from rats in the presence of epinephrine, corticotropin, and thyrotropin. The stimulatory effect of epinephrine on lipolysis was greater than that of corticotropin or thyrotropin. Lipolysis induced by epinephrine was inhibited by propranolol but only slightly by p...
متن کاملEffect of nucleic acid metabolites on lipolysis in adipose tissue.
It has been observed that nucleic acids, nucleotides, and nucleosides inhibit the lipolytic action of epinephrine on adipose tissue, whereas purine and pyrimidine bases increase it (1). Further studies, described in the present report, have shown this interaction to be quite specific for lipolysis (uptake and esterification of fatty acids being unaffected), but not limited to epinephrine (other...
متن کاملActivation of alpha2-adrenergic receptors blunts epinephrine-induced lipolysis in subcutaneous adipose tissue during a hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp in men.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether hyperinsulinemia modifies adrenergic control of lipolysis, with particular attention paid to the involvement of antilipolytic alpha2-adrenergic receptors (AR). Eight healthy male subjects (age: 23.9 +/- 0.9 yr; body mass index: 23.8 +/- 1.9) were investigated during a 6-h euglycemichyperinsulinemic clamp and in control conditions. Before and duri...
متن کاملInhibition of epinephrine-induced lipolysis in isolated white adipocytes of aging rabbits by increased alpha-adrenergic responsiveness.
The aim of this study was to explain the unresponsiveness of rabbit perirenal adipose tissue to epinephrine. The in vitro lipolytic response to isoproterenol and to epinephrine alone or associated with alpha- or beta-adrenergic blocking agents, was studied in the adipocytes of rabbits of various ages. Epinephrine induces a large glycerol release in young rabbit adipocytes whereas an increase in...
